National City, California, the second oldest city in the San Diego County, is a cultural diverse area with a population of approximately 55,000 and large spread of ethnic groups. Located close to San Diego, Chula Vista, and Bonita, California, as well as Tijuana, Mexico, National City is an easy distance from many great places. National City offers many community services from an aquatics program to cultural art openings and senior services. Several parks and recreational facilities are available for use as well. A special shopping experience can be found in National City at many indoor and outdoor experiences such as Old Schoolhouse Square or the Westfield Plaza Bonita Shopping Mall. With its cultural diversity, National City is home to an amazing selection of dining experiences also, with everything from steak houses to Filipino. Incorporated in 1887, this city boasts itself in being "the center of it all", and perhaps it truly is the center of everything with its diversity and wide smattering of local events and community opportunities. Historic venues and architecture adorn this city, with the option to visit such attractions as the Granger Music Hall or the Railcar Plaza. Other wonderful events, including parades, the farmers' market, and even the annual chili cook-off provide a sense of well-needed community.
