Description
Join your trip organizers Gayle Van Leer and Janet Pinterits on the Horizon for a three day scuba diving adventure to the best of the California Southern Channel Islands. The Dive Animals Scuba Club has been hosting these ever popular 3 day trips for over 15 years. Everyone is welcome, you do not have to be a club member, these are advanced trips however.
Our main destination is the world class kelp forest/temperate water dive destination of San Clemente Island we are lucky to have right in our own backyard. Nearly any film you have seen about California kelp forests was probably filmed there. Award winning photographer and iMAX film producer Howard Hall calls it one of the top dive spots in the world. Our trips can also include Santa Barbara Island, known for its sea lion colony, Catalina Island and the remote Cortez Banks.
These are limited load charters with just 28 passengers making the dive deck less crowded as well as giving a bit more elbow room in general on the boat. The core group of people that have come on these trips year after year are a fairly self-sufficient bunch of experienced divers but we do have all levels of divers onboard typically and you can always find a buddy. These trips cater to advanced divers and you need to be aware that there is no “in the water divemaster” that leads guided dives.
You can expect as many as 5 dives a day except for the last day of the trip where two long ones or three short ones is more common as we need to depart a
